About The Position

The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for the overall management and operation of a skilled nursing facility. This executive leadership role ensures regulatory compliance, high-quality resident care, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Administrator oversees all departments, fosters a positive workplace culture, and serves as the primary liaison for residents, families, staff, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current and valid Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in the state of operation.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, MDS processes, and reimbursement structures.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, financial, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build a culture of care and excellence.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and long-term care software.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Lead department heads, providing strategic guidance and performance oversight.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and collaborative environment for residents and staff.
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local health and safety regulations, including CMS, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Coordinate and prepare for surveys, inspections, and audits.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and quality improvement plans.
  • Monitor resident care, safety, and satisfaction metrics to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the facility’s budget.
  • Oversee billing, collections, and reimbursement processes (Medicare, Medicaid, private pay).
  • Implement cost-control measures and monitor financial performance.
  • Manage census and marketing strategies to support occupancy and revenue goals.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain qualified personnel.
  • Manage employee performance, disciplinary actions, and professional development.
  • Oversee staff scheduling to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect.
  • Foster high resident satisfaction and engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care, services, and concerns.
  • Address complaints and grievances promptly and professionally.
  • Support and uphold resident rights and dignity.
