About The Position

James Madison University (JMU) School of Nursing invites applications for a 10-month, full-time faculty appointment beginning August 10, 2026. The School of Nursing offers CCNE-accredited Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. This position will primarily support the Graduate Advanced Practice MSN and BSN to DNP programs. Requirements

  • A graduate degree in nursing with a doctorate in nursing or a related field and current advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) licensure and certification with a primary care focus as Family, Adult Primary Care or Pediatrics.
  • Candidates expecting to earn a doctoral degree prior to August 2026 will be considered, with the requirement that the successful candidate must have the doctoral degree by the start date.
  • Other requirements include active RN and APRN licenses and the ability to obtain Virginia RN and APRN licensure by the start date.

Responsibilities

  • Duties and responsibilities for this position include teaching, scholarship and professional, community, and/or university service.
  • This position requires in person and/or virtual teaching in the classroom, laboratory, and practicum settings.
  • Teaching responsibilities will focus on graduate nursing program needs, graduate student advising, and mentoring student scholarship projects.
  • This role also required service to the School of Nursing, university and professional community.
