About The Position

The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences and Department of Nursing at Brock University are seeking a Scholar, Registered Nurse, with a completed PhD in nursing, to submit an application for a probationary tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of August 1, 2026. This position consists of 40% teaching, 40% research and scholarly activities, and 20% service. The successful candidate will support teaching needs in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Applicants must show a strong commitment to Primary Health Care principles, as well as diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Requirements

  • Completed PhD in nursing
  • Scholar with a proven record of excellence in teaching diverse nursing courses
  • Expertise in course development
  • Skilled at providing high-quality instruction
  • Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Evidence of a developing program of research
  • Registered Nurses in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario or be eligible to obtain registration prior to June 1, 2026
  • A letter of application
  • A detailed and current curriculum vitae
  • A current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (or evidence of eligibility to prior to June 1, 2026)
  • A one-page summary of their teaching philosophy
  • A summary (one-two pages) of a developing program or research, this can include satisfactory scholarly, creative, or professional work
  • Names and contact information for three (3) professional referees

Nice To Haves

  • Background in teaching large classes
  • Clinical background in medical/surgical nursing, or critical care
  • Research that includes vulnerable populations or health inequities among equity-deserving populations
  • Evidence of successful student supervision at the undergraduate or graduate levels
