About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director to provide leadership and operational oversight for Inpatient Services, including Medical/Surgical Units and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The Nursing Director is responsible for ensuring excellence in patient care, nursing quality, patient safety, staffing, operational performance, and regulatory compliance. This role assumes 24-hour accountability for departmental operations and collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Required
• Active Maine RN License Required OR Active Compact RN License
• License must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing
• BLS (AHA) Required
• ACLS Required

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) Preferred
• Specialty Certification Preferred
• Leadership Certification Preferred
• Previous Nursing Leadership experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing inpatient nursing services preferred
• Med/Surg and/or ICU leadership experience highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for inpatient nursing services
• Oversee Medical/Surgical and ICU nursing operations
• Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning
• Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Oversee departmental budgets and resource utilization
• Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Promote patient- and family-centered care
• Mentor, coach, and develop nursing staff and leaders
