About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Nursing Director – Emergency Department to provide strategic and operational leadership for nursing services within a fast-paced acute-care hospital environment. The Nursing Director will oversee clinical practice, quality, staffing, operations, financial performance, and staff development while ensuring the highest standards of patient care. This leader will collaborate closely with executive leadership, physicians, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary departments to drive clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan required.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical and/or progressively responsible nursing leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership experience in an acute-care hospital environment, preferably within Emergency Services.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and operational leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree Preferred in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate is a strong nursing leader with proven experience managing clinical teams in a complex hospital environment. Candidates with Emergency Department leadership experience, strong operational expertise, and a track record of improving quality, patient outcomes, and staff engagement are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for Emergency Department nursing operations and assigned clinical departments.
  • Oversee nursing practice, quality outcomes, staffing, recruitment, retention, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care delivery.
  • Drive initiatives focused on patient safety, quality improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental operating budgets and financial performance.
  • Support staff development, advanced nursing practice, leadership growth, and career advancement opportunities.
  • Participate in strategic planning and system-wide initiatives to improve organizational performance.
  • Promote a collaborative, ethical, and inclusive work environment.
  • Participate in administrative, quality, and leadership committees as required.
