Nursing Assistant - PCU
About The Position
Under the direction and supervision of an RN, the Nursing Assistant provides basic nursing care for an assigned group of patients. Care settings described include general nursing units, special care areas, maternal-child units (including labor and delivery and nursery), pediatrics, GI Lab, chemical dependency and psychiatric units, emergency care, and surgical services. Patients range from newborns to older adults depending on the unit. The position requires completion of established competencies within the designated introductory period and performance of other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- BLS certification obtained through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training, to be obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to the position.
Nice To Haves
- Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting course.
- Six months of experience in the healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the direction and supervision of an RN.
- Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
