About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - San Diego is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Nursing Assistant provides compassionate care to patients during their recovery, including personal hygiene, feeding, transport, and support with maintaining clean and orderly patient rooms and equipment. The position is located at 555 Washington Street, San Diego, CA 92103, and is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., three days per week, including every other weekend. Compensation is $23 to $28.05 per hour, with a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
• Experience as a hospital nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field, such as medical assistant work or active enrollment as an RN student.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient services including basin-less bathing, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers as needed and assist transporters with moving patients into and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment, including bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
