About The Position

The Nursing Assistant works part-time on the 3rd shift in the 3G/H unit, a 37-bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit specializing in orthopedic, neuro, and spine patients, and also serving secondary stroke and general cardiac/telemetry patients. Patients arrive from PACU, the ED, interventional areas, and direct admissions from physician offices.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and related support by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties to assist medical and nursing personnel in examining, treating, and caring for patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of a nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
• Basic Life Support certification; applicants who do not already have it must provide completion within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, toileting, feeding, and positioning.
• Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, specimens, and other patient data.
• Perform delegated clinical procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and venipuncture.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and procedures.
• Perform clerical and unit coordination duties, including handling patient charts and physician orders.
• Maintain supplies and equipment and a safe patient care environment.
• Respond to patient needs and emergency situations while providing compassionate, respectful care.
