About The Position
The Nursing Assistant (PCT/HUC) works in the acute-care 3E telemetry unit, a 19-bed unit specializing in neurology and medical cardiology patients. The unit cares for patients admitted from the Emergency Department, ICU, or as direct admissions, including patients receiving care through the Comprehensive Stroke Care Program. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another licensed care team member, the Patient Care Tech (PCT/HUC) provides direct patient care and related support. The role performs selected nursing procedures and routine duties to assist medical and nursing personnel with patient examinations, treatment, and care. This is a part-time night-shift position.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of a nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with the level of education. A letter from the school verifying completion of first-year clinicals must be provided.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and related support under the direction of an RN or other licensed care team member.
- Perform selected nursing procedures and routine duties.
- Assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment, and care of patients.
