About The Position

Become part of Essentia Health’s team, whose mission is to make a healthy difference in people’s lives. The Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and supports patients’ needs in a manner that promotes safety and comfort. The role works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN. Duties vary by patient care unit or department and are performed within the job scope and applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements. This position is 32 hours per week, with a schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is based at Essentia Health’s 32nd Avenue Building in the Med Surg 5th Floor department. The job posting lists a compensation range of $17.63–$26.45 and a $1,500 sign-on incentive.

Requirements

Certified Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health is preferred; if not a CNA, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of employment.
BLS certification is required within three months after hire.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, or ability to become certified within one month from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide personal hygiene care.
Assist patients with nutritional needs.
Provide comfort care and other assistance.
Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
Work within the job scope to meet Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements.
