Nursing Assistant Med Surg Ortho Days
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to patients and supports their safety and comfort under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN. Duties vary by patient care unit and may include personal hygiene, nutritional support, comfort care, patient transfers, taking vital signs, recordkeeping, promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment that promotes healing. The role works within its scope to meet the requirements of The Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies. This position is 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is located at the 32nd Avenue Building in the Med Surg 5th Floor department. A $1,500 sign-on incentive is offered. The compensation range is $17.63–$26.45.
Requirements
- If not already certified as a Nursing Assistant, register as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of employment.
- Obtain BLS certification within three months after hire.
- Have current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or become certified within one month of hire.

- Certification as a Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN.
- Provide personal hygiene care, assist with nutritional needs, and provide comfort care and other assistance.
- Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
- Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
- Work within the role's scope to meet applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements.
