Nursing Assistant - Emergency Department (ED) - Full-time - Nights
About The Position
At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist, the Nursing Assistant in the Emergency Department provides compassionate, patient-focused care and serves as an important point of contact for patients and families. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, the assistant partners with Registered Nurses, Nurse Technicians, and other team members to support patient care and experience in a fast-paced environment. The role includes monitoring and recording vital signs, helping deliver meals, ensuring safe patient transport, and maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment. This is a full-time night position from 11:45 PM to 7:45 AM at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist. Working three weekends per month is required. The position requires on-site presence, and employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. Travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Assistant training program, or current enrollment in a BSN program and completion of at least one clinical rotation.
- Current BLS training from the American Heart Association.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience as a nurse’s aide in a hospital.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-focused care and perform selected care duties under a registered nurse’s supervision.
- Monitor and measure patients’ temperatures, pulses, respiration, and blood pressure, and record the results.
- Help ensure meals are delivered to patients.
- Transport patients safely.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
- Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, Nurse Technicians, and other team members to support patient care and experience.
