About The Position

Nemours is seeking a Nursing Assistant for its Staffing Resource Pool in Wilmington, Delaware. This casual/per-diem position supports general activities on the patient care unit and assists the health care team with patient care activities under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse.

The role involves maintaining a clean and safe care environment, helping patients with activities of daily living, collecting specimens, documenting care in hospital information systems, relaying information accurately, and transporting patients and delivering reports or supplies as needed. The patient population is primarily pediatric and may include patients who are ill, handicapped, or restricted in some way.

Requirements

• Able to read and write accurately.
• Able to understand laboratory orders, computer information, and some medical terminology.
• Comfortable obtaining specimens, including blood specimens, from a primarily pediatric patient population that may be ill, handicapped, or restricted in some way.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 1 year of patient care experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain a clean and safe patient care unit.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and play.
• Collect patient specimens, including blood, urine, and stool, according to policy while attending to safety, comfort, and accuracy.
• Use Hospital Information Systems as required for patient care, including documenting vital signs and care activities.
• Accurately relay information from physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel, and others.
• Transport patients and deliver reports, supplies, and other items to patient units or Institute locations as needed.
