About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Gulfport is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants play a central role in delivering compassionate care to patients during vulnerable stages of recovery. This is a per-diem position on the day shift, with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., in Gulfport, Mississippi. The compensation is $18.65 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and notes that demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field such as medical assisting.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient services including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters with moving patients into and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment, including bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
