About The Position

The Nursing Assistant supports professional and technical nursing personnel by performing duties and procedures directly related to patient care. Responsibilities include taking and recording vital signs, helping patients with hygiene and elimination, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment. The role also assists with stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, completing routine clerical tasks, and performing other related duties as assigned. The position may require floating between UCI Health’s Orange and Irvine locations.

Requirements

Understanding of basic medical terminology.
Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with at least one clinical semester completed.
Nursing Assistants hired before May 2010 who did not possess CNA certification are not required to obtain it at this time.
Ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
Current Basic Life Support certification upon hire, issued by the American Heart Association.
Complete an approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
Ability to work weekends and holidays.
Must be able to float between the Orange and Irvine locations as needed.
Must provide proof of work authorization.
