Nursing Assistant - Med Surg
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant works in a Med Surg setting within a hospital that provides care across a range of units and patient populations. General Nursing Units care for patients age 15 through adulthood. Special Care Areas serve patients age 15 through adulthood with high-risk conditions. Other units described include Maternal Child, Nursery, Pediatric, GI Lab, Chemical Dependent, Psychiatric, Emergency, and Surgical Services, each providing care to its specified patient population through clinically competent staff. The position requires completing established competencies within the designated introductory period and performing other related duties as assigned. The position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire through ARC or AHA; must obtain AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- Obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 60 days of hire or transfer to the position.
Nice To Haves
- Satisfactory completion of a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting course.
- Six months of experience in the healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing assistant support in the Med Surg setting.
- Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
