About The Position
Join Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center as a night-shift, PRN Nursing Assistant on the Medical-Surgical 4W unit in Montclair, New Jersey. The Nursing Assistant II provides hands-on daily care under the supervision of registered nurses, supporting patients’ comfort, safety, and hygiene. The position includes basic nursing care, assisting with emergency care, monitoring and reporting patient needs and changes, and performing delegated patient-care tasks. Pay is determined by experience and education and may include other components such as differentials and call pay based on the role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of prior Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience.
- CNA certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic nursing care to patients.
- Assist nursing personnel and physicians in emergency care.
- Accept responsibility for providing safe, appropriate, quality patient care.
- Assist patients with transfers out of bed and back to bed as appropriate.
- Observe patients while performing delegated tasks and report significant findings regarding safety, personal needs, and changes in condition to the licensed nurse.
- Respond to call lights promptly and courteously.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Assist patients in wheelchairs, on stretchers, and while ambulating.
- Monitor vital signs, collect specimens, and monitor intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose, and point-of-care testing.
