Nursing Assistant/Monitor Tech (Day and Evening Shifts)
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to patients and supports their safety and comfort under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN. The role contributes to Essentia Health’s mission and goals and works within its scope to meet requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies. Duties vary by patient care unit or department. This position is based at St Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd, Minnesota, in the ICU. It is 32 hours per week, with rotating 8-hour day and evening shifts: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM and 3:00 PM–11:30 PM. The schedule includes every other weekend and holidays. There is no call obligation.
Requirements
- Meet one of the following: six months of patient care experience; completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program; successful completion of an Essentia Health-provided Nursing Assistant training within one month of hire; verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program; or current registration on the applicable state nursing assistant registry.
- BLS certification, or ability to become certified within one month of hire.
- If qualified through the Essentia Health Foundation Course East Market, complete the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to work 32 hours per week on rotating 8-hour day and evening shifts, every other weekend, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patients’ nutritional needs.
- Provide comfort care and other assistance.
- Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
- Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.
