Nursing Assistant/Monitor Tech (Day and Evening Shifts)
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to patients and serves their needs in a manner that supports safety and comfort. The position works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN, and contributes to Essentia Health’s mission and goals. The role works within its scope to meet Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements. Duties vary by patient care unit or department. This position is based at St Josephs Medical Center in the ICU in Brainerd, Minnesota. The schedule is 56 hours per pay period, with rotating eight-hour day and evening shifts and every-other-weekend work. Holiday work is required; there is no call obligation.
Requirements
- Meet at least one of the following: six months of patient care experience; completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program; successful completion of an Essentia Health-provided Nursing Assistant training within one month of hire; verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program; or current registration on the applicable state nursing assistant registry.
- Be able to work 56 hours per pay period, every other weekend, and rotating eight-hour shifts.
- Be BLS certified or able to become certified within one month of hire.
- If qualified through the Essentia Health Foundation Course East Market, complete the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patients’ nutritional needs.
- Provide comfort care and other assistance.
- Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
- Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
- Work within job scope to meet Joint Commission and applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements.
