About The Position
The Nursing Assistant I works alongside physicians and nurses to facilitate advanced primary and specialty nursing services. The role supports patients through activities such as bathing, serving meals, transportation, administering medication, and positioning. The Nursing Assistant helps ensure a positive experience for patients and families by demonstrating alertness, collaboration, teamwork, and a positive attitude. This position is full-time, works evenings from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., and is in the PACU at Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- CNA.
- One to two years of experience in an acute care setting is strongly preferred.
- Prior PACU experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support nursing personnel in providing direct patient care and assist patients with daily activities.
- Serve and collect food trays and provide between-meal nourishment.
- Change bed linen, run errands, and prepare and sterilize treatment trays and supplies.
- Transport patients within the facility for consultations, treatments, tests, or examinations.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as temperature or pulse, and provide basic treatment.
- Ensure a safe care environment for patients and their families.
- Perform continuous rounds and check-ins throughout the shift to ensure patient and family needs are met.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
