About The Position

The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to residents of a skilled nursing facility and serves their needs in a manner that supports their safety and comfort, within the scope of the nursing assistant role. The role includes providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, recognizing and addressing issues associated with the aging process, and promptly reporting changes in a resident’s condition to the shift nurse. The Nursing Assistant also maintains a safe, clean, attractive, and neat environment for residents; works to prevent abuse of vulnerable adults; and identifies safety hazards or emergency situations and initiates corrective actions.

This position is at Essentia Homestead and has a 0.6 FTE. Shift start and end times vary, with a flexible rotation across days, evenings, and nights. Weekends are worked on a rotating basis, and holidays are required. There is no call obligation.

Requirements

• Be currently registered on the applicable state nursing assistant registry, or obtain registration within four months of hire or transfer.
• If transitioning from the Nursing Assistant – Student position, have nursing assistant registry registration upon hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to skilled nursing facility residents within the scope of the nursing assistant role.
• Serve residents in a manner that supports their safety and comfort.
• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutritional needs.
• Recognize and address problems associated with the aging process.
• Recognize and promptly report changes in resident condition to the shift nurse.
• Maintain a safe, clean, attractive, and neat environment for residents.
• Be aware of and help prevent abuse of vulnerable adults in the facility’s care.
• Maintain awareness of safety issues and carry out responsibilities safely.
• Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective actions.
