About The Position

Miller’s Health Systems is seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to serve as a Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients on their shift, follows each patient’s Comprehensive Care Plan, and assists the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate patient-record documentation as needed. The role also supervises direct resident-care personnel on the shift.

Requirements

• Currently licensed and registered to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Indiana; the posting identifies Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Successfully complete the pre-employment process and screening.
• Pass the physical examination required for employment at the facility.
• Maintain a professional manner and appearance.
• Know nursing policies and procedures; medication administration and possible side effects; treatment administration; and local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to resident care.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and residents’ physical, psychological, social, and medical needs.
• Understand the organizational structure and duties of employees under the Unit Manager’s supervision.
• Demonstrate competence in supervision and leadership, a caring attitude, observance, good judgment, and emotional stability.
• Be able to foster and maintain good working relationships with other staff and follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients on the assigned shift.
• Follow patients’ Comprehensive Care Plans.
• Assist the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate documentation in patient records when needed.
• Supervise direct resident-care personnel on the assigned shift.
• Maintain good working relationships with other staff and follow written and verbal instructions.
