About The Position

The Nurse Tech ICU provides direct patient care under the direction of an RN or Provider, following clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work. The role supports the development of individualized patient care plans and helps deliver safe, quality, cost-effective care. The Nurse Tech communicates patient and family needs, maintains accurate and timely documentation, and explains the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members. The position also includes cleaning patient areas and equipment and reporting equipment malfunctions. This is a full-time position in the Intensive Care Unit at Lakeland Hospital Niles, with 36 scheduled hours per week, a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., variable workdays, and every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ARC or AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN or Provider, consistent with clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work.
• Provide input into the development of an individualized plan of care.
• Articulate the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members.
• Support the delivery of safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner.
• Clean the patient’s environment, work area, and equipment, and communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high moral and ethical standards and advocate for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organization data.
