About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking an inpatient Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The unit is a 24-bed acute care nursing unit caring for medical patients who may or may not require telemetry monitoring. Patients range in age from 20 through geriatric and may be inpatient, observation, or outpatient extended-stay patients. Conditions cared for include Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, psychiatric conditions, sepsis and other advanced infections, falls and syncope, palliative and hospice needs, stroke, COVID-19, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, and acute coronary syndrome.

Medical-surgical nurses care for a broad patient population and need a wide knowledge base, strong organizational and prioritization abilities, and advanced assessment and communication skills. The role offers a foundation for developing a nursing career in medicine. The position is full-time nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and every other holiday scheduled.

Requirements

• Pass the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and hold a Massachusetts nursing license.
• Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Diploma in Nursing listed as required.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Registered Nurse license for the State of Massachusetts.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to medical patients with a wide variety of conditions, with or without telemetry monitoring.
• Monitor and care for patients in inpatient, observation, and outpatient extended-stay status.
