About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking senior nursing students, recent nursing graduates, or new registered nurses for the Postpartum (Mother/Baby) Nurse Residency Program, beginning July 19, 2027. This program is accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. Nurse residency programs are proven to increase clinical competency, reduce medical errors, lower stress, and improve job satisfaction. This program is designed for graduate nurses and RNs with less than 12 months of experience who are passionate about caring for mothers, newborns, and families. Postpartum nurses assess and care for mothers and newborns, monitor the newborn's transition, provide education, support maternal recovery, and help families build confidence. The program also includes experience in the Continuing Care Nursery, where newborns exposed to substance use receive specialized care, including assessment, monitoring, withdrawal management, and family support for infants diagnosed with Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS).

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program before June 2027
  • Hold or obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Have less than 12 months of RN experience by the program start date
  • Hold a Delaware RN license or Compact State RN license before the start date
  • Be willing and able to work all shifts, including: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Holidays
  • Successfully pass the NCLEX
  • Obtain Delaware RN licensure or Compact State RN licensure
  • Sign a commitment agreement requiring two years of employment with ChristianaCare
  • Sign a commitment agreement requiring a minimum of 15 months on the original unit of hire

Responsibilities
