ChristianaCareNewark, DE
Onsite

About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking senior nursing students, recent nursing graduates, or new RNs for their Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program, beginning July 19, 2027. This program is accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. Nurse residency programs are proven to increase clinical competency, reduce medical errors, lower stress, and improve job satisfaction. ChristianaCare supports nurses with less than one year of experience through specialty-focused residency programs designed to foster professional growth, confidence, and clinical excellence. The Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive 26-week program that combines classroom instruction, simulation-based learning, and hands-on clinical training. Residents will work alongside experienced emergency nurses to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities for a fast-paced emergency care environment. This residency provides a structured transition from Graduate Nurse (GN) to Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN), with continued professional growth through residency meetings. Upon successful completion, participants will transition into a Staff Nurse role within one of ChristianaCare's Emergency Departments. ChristianaCare operates three Emergency Departments: ChristianaCare Newark Campus (Level I Adult Trauma Center), ChristianaCare Wilmington Campus (Level III Adult Trauma Center), and Middletown Emergency Department (freestanding). Collectively, these departments care for approximately 195,000 patients annually, with emergency teams serving an average of 500 patients per day. There are 162 patient treatment rooms across all locations, including advanced trauma and resuscitation facilities.
