The Care Dimensions Nurse Residency Program is designed to support experienced nurses transitioning into hospice and palliative care. This paid, full-time, intensive orientation program lasts three months and serves as a bridge to a professional specialty nursing role. Nurse residents will be employed during the residency and, upon successful completion, will begin a full-time position as an RN Case Manager, RN float, or LPN float. The program focuses on developing critical thinking and nursing skills within the hospice specialty, with support from clinical educators, preceptors, and experienced clinicians. Residents will work with patients in various settings, including home care, and become active members of an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care. A commitment to work full-time for one year is expected after the residency. The program aims to increase confidence in clinical skills and judgment, enhance critical thinking, and prepare nurses to provide meaningful care to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
