About The Position

The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) is designed to support new graduate nurses during their transition from student to licensed Registered Nurse (RN). St. Luke's Health nurse residents receive ongoing professional and educational support from a team of education specialists, nursing leaders, preceptors, and mentors. The program develops critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, engagement, stress management, and leadership skills through in-person and virtually-enhanced education. This competency-based curriculum, coupled with trained preceptors and mentorship, accelerates nursing competency during the Nurse Resident’s first year. Graduate Nurse Residents are responsible for delivering excellent patient care through assessment, formulating nursing diagnoses, establishing goals, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating patient care outcomes. Upon completion of the first year, nurse residents report enhanced self-confidence and practice aligned with St. Luke's mission, vision, and values. Former residents often serve as mentors, unit leaders, and participate in nursing councils, with many pursuing advanced degrees and certifications. This job offers relocation assistance to eligible new hires. Applicants will complete a Nurse Residency Survey prior to virtual interview days in October to indicate preferred locations and specialties. The CommonSpirit Health Nurse Residency Program - South Region/Texas Market is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

Requirements

Graduate nurses from an accredited school of nursing
Minimum 3.0 grade point average
Less than 12 months of professional nursing experience
Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) (required for Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center)
Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) (required/preferred for St. Luke's Brazosport, St. Luke's Patients Medical Center, St. Luke's Sugar Land, St. Luke's Vintage, and St. Luke's Woodlands)
Successfully passed the NCLEX before the February 15th, 2027 start date
Unencumbered license from the Texas Board of Nursing
Basic life support certification from the American Heart Association
