Nurse Practitioner - Office-based (General Urology)
About The Position
Urology of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide office-based care and see patients independently alongside collaborating physicians and APPs. Our Nurse Practitioners mostly work within Centers of Excellence built around specific urologic conditions. Office-based procedures can be taught if desired. Most common diagnoses would include: kidney stones, male voiding dysfunction, female voiding dysfunction, elevated PSA/prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, etc. UVA has a 100-year history of providing comprehensive and high-quality care to the entire Hampton Roads region. Our clinical care team consists of board-certified Urologists and 30+ Advanced Practice Providers. Working in a team-based environment, our mission is to help patients optimize their urological health, while providing rewarding opportunities for APPs to function at the top of their license. Our APP program is nationally recognized as a leader in developing and expanding the role of APPs in Urology.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Licensure in the state of Virginia

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate
- Assess the patient’s medical condition by completion of a urological examination
- Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
- Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient’s medical condition
- Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols
- Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate
- Perform procedures in office setting (cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, etc.) as trained
