Nurse Practitioner, Per Diem, Electrophysiology- Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center
About The Position
The Nurse Practitioner provides per diem electrophysiology care at Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center. The role evaluates and manages patients with cardiac arrhythmias, including conducting outpatient assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing care before and after electrophysiology procedures. The position also involves ordering and interpreting cardiac diagnostic tests, managing cardiac implantable electronic devices, educating patients and families, coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records. Care must follow evidence-based practices and applicable organizational policies, clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current New Jersey licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Two to three years of cardiology or cardiac care experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive outpatient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and electrophysiology consultations for patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including antiarrhythmic therapy, rate and rhythm control strategies, and lifestyle recommendations.
- Perform pre- and post-procedure assessments for catheter ablations, pacemaker and ICD implantations, LAAO procedures, and other electrophysiology interventions.
- Order, interpret, and manage cardiac diagnostic testing, including ECGs, ambulatory and event monitors, implantable loop recorders, cardiac imaging studies, and laboratory tests.
- Monitor and manage patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices, including pacemakers and ICDs.
- Collaborate with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Educate patients and families about arrhythmia diagnoses, treatment options, procedures, medication management, and long-term cardiovascular health.
- Deliver evidence-based care in accordance with organizational policies, clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
