About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiology Clinic plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care to patients across diverse age groups and backgrounds. This position involves conducting detailed patient assessments, diagnosing cardiac conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals. The Nurse Practitioner will manage both acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases, ensuring continuity of care through patient education, medication management, and follow-up evaluations. Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the United States.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification (Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, or other appropriate certification).
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in cardiology or a related specialty.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate cardiovascular health and identify complex cardiac conditions.
  • Strong diagnostic reasoning and decision-making skills are essential for interpreting test results and formulating effective treatment plans.
  • Communication skills are critical for educating patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records enables efficient documentation and data management, supporting continuity of care and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Ability to stay current with cardiology research and guidelines ensures that the Nurse Practitioner applies the most effective, evidence-based interventions to improve patient outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certification or other cardiology-related certification.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary cardiology clinic or hospital cardiology department.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems commonly used in cardiology settings.
  • Strong background in patient education and chronic disease management programs.
  • Participation in cardiology-related research or quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cardiovascular health assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with various cardiac conditions such as hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, and coronary artery disease.
  • Prescribe medications and manage ongoing pharmacologic therapies in accordance with state laws and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless communication.
  • Provide patient education on lifestyle modifications, disease management, and preventive care to promote cardiovascular health.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests to inform clinical decision-making.
  • Document patient encounters thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and continuing education to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
