About The Position

Chesapeake Cardiac Care is an independent, physician-led cardiovascular and sleep medicine practice serving Prince George's County and the surrounding region for more than 25 years. The practice provides personalized, prevention-focused care in a collaborative, single-site outpatient setting. The Nurse Practitioner will join the outpatient cardiology team and manage a diverse patient population in a clinic-based role. The position does not involve hospital call or inpatient rounding. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating new and established cardiology patients, managing cardiovascular conditions and medications, interpreting and following up on diagnostic studies, educating patients, coordinating care, and documenting in the Athena EHR.

Requirements

Active Maryland APRN license (CRNP) and national NP certification (AANP or ANCC).
3 to 5 years of NP experience in cardiology.
Current BLS certification.
DEA Registration and Maryland CDS registration, or the ability to obtain them before starting.
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.
Commitment to patient-centered care.

Nice To Haves

ACLS certification.
Experience with athenaOne EHR.
Familiarity with cardiac imaging and stress testing workflows.
Interest in sleep medicine, preventive cardiology, or clinical research.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive evaluations, histories, and physical exams for new and established cardiology patients.
Diagnose and manage hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, dyslipidemia, and other cardiovascular conditions.
Order, interpret, and follow up on ECGs, echocardiograms, stress testing, ambulatory rhythm monitoring, and laboratory studies.
Manage medications, including anticoagulation and guideline-directed therapy.
Educate patients on prevention and lifestyle.
Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and hospital teams.
Document accurately and promptly in the Athena EHR.
