About The Position

West Jefferson General Hospital Clinics, a member of New Orleans Physician Services (NOPS), is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our Neurology Clinic. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team while providing exceptional outpatient neurological care to patients throughout our community. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and educating patients while supporting quality outcomes and an outstanding patient experience. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive outpatient medical care and treatment to patients under established clinical guidelines and physician collaboration. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, implementing preventive health measures, developing treatment plans, evaluating patient responses to interventions, and ensuring continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered neurological care in an outpatient setting.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, physical examinations, and follow-up evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls, messages, and clinical inquiries, ensuring timely completion and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and complete patient encounters in a timely manner.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies.
  • Identify and report signs of abuse or neglect in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor plans of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and support for clinical staff and team initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in daily huddles, provider meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and quality enhancement efforts.
  • Provide input regarding hiring, coaching, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions involving clinical personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Complete continuing education requirements and maintain professional competency.
  • Uphold the organization's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • Support compliance with safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and environmental standards.
  • Adhere to standard and transmission-based precautions.
