Part Time-NP/PA Float - East Region
About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care, has an opening for a Part Time floating Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant East Region in Michigan! The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for covering East Region sites 2 days/week. Employee will be compensated for travel expenses while working shifts following guidelines discussed in the employee handbook. The areas included in coverage include: Whitmore Lake, Coldwater, Adrian, Ypsilanti, Lapeer & Lenox. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
- Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
- Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Correctional desired but not required
Responsibilities
- Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
- Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
- Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
- Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
- Documents all healthcare contacts.
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
- Attends training and meetings as required.
