About The Position

American Family Care (AFC) is hiring a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for its outpatient urgent care setting. The provider will assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages, managing acute conditions, infections, and injuries. The role includes performing minor procedures, conducting comprehensive physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, counseling patients, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with supervising physicians and team members to deliver quality care. The schedule commitment is one full shift per week during the center’s hours of operation, one weekend per month (consecutive Saturday and Sunday, covering the weekly shift), and one holiday per year. The position has no overnights or call. AFC describes a supportive clinical team, approachable leadership, and ongoing professional development and CME resources.

Requirements

Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) with an active state license, or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) with an active state license.
At least 2 years of experience in urgent care, family medicine, or emergency care.
Skilled in urgent care procedures and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic.
Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered mindset.
Active BLS certification, or ability to obtain it within the defined onboarding period.

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting.
Manage acute conditions, infections, and injuries.
Perform minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage.
Conduct comprehensive physicals, including DOT and employment exams.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs.
Counsel patients on care plans and preventive health strategies.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation.
Collaborate with supervising physicians and team members to ensure quality care.
