About The Position

This full-time (1.00 FTE) opportunity involves 36 hours of direct patient care and 4 hours of administrative time, managing 16-18 patients per day. The role is supported by a team including an MA, RN, and Clinic Manager, and has no call obligation. The position focuses on providing comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients within the scope of specialty practice, exercising independent medical judgment and fostering effective physician-patient relationships. The role also involves participating in population health initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and promoting cost-effective resource utilization. Addressing patient concerns and fostering a culture of service excellence are key aspects of the patient experience component.

Requirements

  • For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC or AANP certification required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting in family practice, internal medicine or geriatrics.
  • For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required.

  • Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required (for Physician Assistant).

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients within the scope of specialty practice.
  • Exercise independent medical judgment and clinical decision-making in the care of all assigned patients.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage effective physician-patient relationships that promote high-quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  • Participate in system-wide population health and health management initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
  • Support the development, implementation, and adherence to clinical quality, safety, and service excellence standards.
  • Contribute to performance improvement efforts focused on patient experience, quality metrics, access, and operational efficiency.
  • Promote cost-effective and appropriate utilization of healthcare resources.
  • Address and resolve patient concerns and complaints in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner.
  • Foster a culture of service excellence and patient-centered care throughout the practice.
