The NP collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals on differential diagnoses and plans of care, evaluates patient responses and adjusts care, documents assessments and plans, communicates effectively, consults or refers when appropriate, and provides education to patients, families, communities, and healthcare professionals. The NP maintains professional knowledge and skills, participates in relevant committees and annual quality-improvement activities, and demonstrates behaviors consistent with advanced nursing practice. Physician Assistant duties include providing medical services within the PA’s education, training, scope of practice, and supervising physician’s delegation; taking and documenting comprehensive patient histories; identifying and documenting normal and abnormal findings; prescribing or administering delegated medications; administering appropriate vaccines; ordering diagnostic tests consistent with differential diagnoses; collaborating with the interdisciplinary team; and developing respectful, empathetic, collaborative relationships with patients and families.
