About The Position

We are seeking PRN Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) who are passionate about providing exceptional care to newborns in a collaborative, family-centered environment. This position is located at St. Louis Children’s at CoxHealth – Springfield, MO. The NNP provides advanced clinical care to premature, critically ill and medically complex newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and affiliated newborn care settings. The NNP works collaboratively with neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to deliver evidence-based neonatal care. A unique opportunity to join a compassionate and growing neonatal care team serving families across beautiful Springfield and the surrounding region. The NNP will be employed by the prestigious Washington University while working in coordination with Missouri’s #1 Children’s Hospital all while being in the heart of the Ozarks.

Requirements

  • M.S.N. - Master Of Science In Nursing - Nurse Practitioner
  • Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.
  • APN licensure or ability to successfully obtain licensure within three months of date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Missouri APRN license or eligibility for licensure.
  • National certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC).
  • Current NRP certification.
  • NICU experience.
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered and family-focused care.
  • Ability to manage high-acuity neonatal patients in coordination with the 24/7 in house neonatologist.
  • Experience in Level III or Level IV NICU settings.
  • Delivery room experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of neonatal patients in the NICU setting.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to critically ill and premature infants.
  • Perform advanced neonatal procedures including intubation, line placement, lumbar puncture, and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding patient status, treatment plans, and education.
  • Participate in delivery attendance for high-risk births.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation via EPIC EMR.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based neonatal practices.
