About The Position

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner needed for a full-time position. This role involves providing a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with granted privileges. The NP will supervise and provide general screening and medical care for patients with routine, acute, and chronic conditions across all organ systems. Responsibilities include administering immunizations, diagnosing and treating patients, and promoting preventive care and health maintenance. The position also involves educating and counseling patients and families, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring universal precautions are used. The NP will also attend staff meetings for case discussion, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives. The role requires technical direction and teaching of other staff, including evidence-based educational lectures and in-service training. The NP will diagnose and treat common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols and guidelines. The position requires recognizing conditions that necessitate isolation. The NP will work in a clinic setting providing 24-hour coverage with shifts from 7 am to 7 am.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or provide a Certificate of Naturalization.
  • Master's degree in nursing.
  • Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certified in the specialty as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification at time of Credentialing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience and able to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems.
  • Provide immunizations.
  • Diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.
  • Technically direct and teach other staff.
  • Provide evidence-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behavior and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the health care team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and/or organization.
  • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.
