Under general supervision, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as a licensed, independent practitioner responsible for direct patient care and coordination within Complex Family Planning and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Assesses patients by means of health history and physical examination. Initiates and orders selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as determined by specialty area(s) following appropriate clinical protocols. Educates and councils patients as appropriate by department and specialty practice standards. Confers with physicians and other health care providers in completing and implementing appropriate patient treatment plans. Provides medical services including management of early pregnancy loss, pregnancy options counseling, provision of medication and procedural care, contraception counseling and provision, coordination of peri-op genetic testing, pre-op evaluation, counseling, and consenting, and risk stratification.
