Neurosurgery Vernon - Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant
About The Position
Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice RN (APRN) to join their Neurosurgery team in Vernon, CT. This role offers unique 1:1 training with neurosurgeons, focusing on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and High Intensity Focus Ultrasound (HIFU) treatments. The position involves both clinic and operating room time for cranial and spine procedures, working alongside experienced advanced practitioners in an established practice that prioritizes patient care. The role is full-time, consisting of four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with potential variations in hours based on caseload. There are no call requirements or weekend duties.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program preferred.
- Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut.
- Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
- RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist) certification required for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Preferred >1-year experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant in a Neurosurgery or an Orthopedic setting; 1st Assist in OR preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 training with neurosurgeons.
- Engage in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program including the use of High Intensity Focus Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for movement disorders.
- Participate in both clinic and OR time (1st Assist) for cranial and spine procedures.
- Work with a team of advanced practitioners with extensive Neurosurgery experience.
- Provide patient care within an established practice with supportive staff.
