About The Position
The Nurse Manager leads nursing staff and oversees overall department operations, applying nursing practice, leadership, delegation, and collaboration to support positive outcomes and experiences for patients and families. The role defines, develops, and monitors patient-care and nursing-practice standards; ensures appropriate availability and allocation of human and material resources; coordinates unit operations and resource provision; and facilitates optimal, cost-efficient patient care. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure. The position is based at MultiCare Covington Medical Center, a 58-bed hospital serving southeast King County with inpatient and outpatient surgical care, a birth center, primary and specialty care, urgent care, a 24-hour Emergency Department, pharmacy, laboratory, and imaging services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or obtain one within five years from the initial date of hire. An RN with 15 or more years of service or an internal candidate hired before January 1, 2021, may be considered as satisfying this requirement in lieu of an education agreement.
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse license or Multistate License endorsement (MLS).
Nice To Haves
- Advanced degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, or ARNP) preferred.
- Five years of clinical experience in a professional or technical role/function preferred.
- Three years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity preferred.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and monitor standards of patient care and nursing practices.
- Ensure availability and appropriate allocation of human and material resources.
- Support collaboration among nursing, physicians, and other disciplines to achieve desired patient-care outcomes and department strategic plans.
- Coordinate the overall operations of assigned units and the provision of resources.
- Facilitate optimal and cost-efficient patient-care delivery.
