About The Position

The Nurse Manager is accountable for the delivery of high-quality nursing care and the administrative management of the nursing unit on a 24-hour basis. The role fulfills the duties and responsibilities associated with the Nurse Manager position in Labor and Delivery at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Requirements

Three years of recent clinical experience.
Current state registered nurse license.
Education must be sufficient to meet the standards for the required license and/or certification.

Nice To Haves

Two years of leadership or managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Select, train, orient, develop, and evaluate department staff.
Ensure staffing mix and allocation comply with departmental guidelines.
Develop departmental budgets and administer operations within budgeted parameters.
Maintain operational reports and records, and collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Coordinate and report outcomes of nursing activities performed on behalf of patients.
Maintain communication among the nursing unit, medical staff, and ancillary departments to solve problems and improve quality, using appropriate facility communication channels.
Ensure unit goals and objectives are established and implemented in alignment with facility and system goals.
Promote a safe environment for high-quality patient care using evidence-based practices.
Protect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
Supervise, institute, and evaluate nursing interventions and documentation.
Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
Facilitate staff professional development and be accountable for staff retention.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards; complete required annual education assignments; work toward goals and objectives; and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
