About The Position

A leading Level II Trauma Center in the Kansas City metropolitan area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead Emergency Department operations. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing daily clinical and operational functions, ensuring high-quality patient care, driving quality outcomes, supporting staff development, and maintaining efficient department operations. The ideal candidate is an experienced Emergency Department leader who thrives in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing teams and improving patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Active RN license or Compact RN license
  • Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department leadership experience within the last year
  • Emergency Department leadership experience in an acute care hospital
  • Strong understanding of Emergency Department operations and patient flow management
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Required Within 90 Days of Hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Required Within 90 Days of Hire
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification - Required Within 90 Days of Hire
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required Within 90 Days of Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or actively pursuing completion within two years of hire
  • Current Emergency Department Manager experience
  • Leadership experience in a high-acuity Emergency Department
  • Experience leading quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for Emergency Department services
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered nursing care
  • Manage daily department operations, staffing, scheduling, and productivity
  • Monitor and improve quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and professional development initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
  • Participate in budgeting, resource management, and operational planning
  • Lead performance improvement and patient throughput initiatives
  • Mentor and develop charge nurses, clinical leaders, and frontline staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence
