Nurse Extern-Outpatient Surgical Care
About The Position
The Nurse Extern performs patient-care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a UVA Community Health Registered Nurse in an inpatient or outpatient setting. The extern assists patients with personal care as needed, performs basic nursing skills delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedures, helps provide a safe care environment, and maintains necessary skills and competencies. This is an eight-week program beginning June 14, 2027, and ending August 7, 2027. Following orientation, the schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The posting states that applicants must be nursing students entering their last year of nursing school with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028. Applications open November 1, 2026, and close January 15, 2027. UVA Community Health is part of the UVA Health academic health system and provides care through community hospitals, outpatient locations, and provider offices. The role contributes to patient care under RN supervision. Base compensation is $17.28 per hour; applicable incentive compensation is not included in that rate.
Requirements
