About The Position

Maintains an ongoing, consortium-wide clinical education program for clinical staff to meet regulatory requirements with required certifications and competencies. Provides support services to internal/external customers under direct supervision of the MEMC CNO or designee, with latitude for independent decision making. Designs, teaches, and evaluates training programs. Acts as an internal training and organizational development consultant. Provides career development resources. Plans, implements, coordinates, and administers clinical specialty training programs, including human patient simulator training. Provides educational and development services to both professional and non-professional staff to maintain and develop competency. Oversees the trauma registrar program for the consortium to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements of the state. Works with the outlying clinics and Wrangell to support the trauma program and designation by assisting in setting up the program, overseeing the registries, and maintaining the trauma designations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of professional clinical instructor experience.
  • 5 years of professional nursing experience with minimum 2 years as staff RN in a specialty (ER, ICU, OB, OR).
  • Two years of supervisory experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • TNCC instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and maintains current regulations and standards relevant to clinical practice area.
  • Ensures educational activities are congruent with mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources.
  • Is responsible for the coordination for regulatory requirements with certifications including BLS, PALS, ACLS, and TNCC.
  • Maintains effective working relations with colleagues at all levels and from all professions within the consortium, ensuring effective communication at all times.
  • Partners with site and department managers to identify clinical education needs and best practices for educational maintenance.
  • Leads clinical education team to develop and coordinate planned educational programs and opportunities for all nursing staff.
  • Works collaboratively with departments on education quality in relation to the clinical learning environment.
  • Lead on the development and completion of audits in relation to clinical education and partners with Learning and Director to develop action plans to achieve the recommendations.
  • Provides coordination and training resources for ACLS, PALS, BLS, NRP, Coast Guard Medivac and other programs.
  • Supervises the IHS Emergency Pediatric Hybrid Program at MEMC and assist outlying clinics in rotating staff through the IHS Emergency Pediatric Hybrid simulation lab.
