About The Position

The primary purpose of the Nurse Consultant I position is to improve and enhance the quality of patient care through consultation, teaching/instructing, role modeling and assisting in researching the standards, policies, procedures and initiatives of the Nursing Department. This position possesses technical expertise in psychiatric/mental health nursing with the ability to advise and provide consultation within specialized nursing services (and nursing education). The Nurse Consultant spends majority of their work time performing independent functions as assigned by and under the general supervision of a Nurse Supervisor III.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • One year of experience in the area of specialization.
  • Current certification in NVCI annually.
  • Current CPR and ACLS biennially.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of nursing principles and techniques for medical, surgical and mental health practices.
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of state and federal laws standards, certifying and accrediting bodies, guidelines, and regulations applicable to area of assignment.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching techniques.
  • Working knowledge of performance improvement principles.
  • Ability to gather, compile, and perform preliminary analysis on data.
