About The Position

This position involves inspecting health facilities across the state to ensure they meet state and federal standards, and investigating complaints against licensed or certified health facilities and agencies. The goal is to determine a healthcare provider's ability to offer safe and acceptable quality services. The Health Care Services mission is to provide eligible Alaskans access and oversight to Medicaid services and protect vulnerable populations through certification and licensing. Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
  • Knowledge of the guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with investigation, including interviewing, evidence detection, locating, gathering, and handling, and drawing appropriate factual inferences and conclusions.
  • Knowledge of the guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with compliance inquiries, including application of compliance rules and criteria.
  • Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
  • Requires frequent travel within the state, up to one week at a time, one to two times per month.
  • RN, Alaska License - AS 08.68.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License, required.
  • Completion of a post-secondary education program in nursing, public health, healthcare services, healthcare administration, or a closely related field.
  • Progressively responsible professional nursing experience that includes responsibility in health care, public health, health care delivery systems, nursing administration, consultative nursing, and/or teaching capacity that is relevant to the position's area of nursing specialty.
  • Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: integrates best research practices with clinical expertise and patient values for optimum care and participates in learning and research activities to the extent feasible.
  • Standards: Knowledge of standards that either are compliant with or derived from established standards or guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect health facilities throughout the state to determine whether they meet state and federal standards.
