About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for full-time Accounting Technician 1 located in Juneau, Alaska. The Accounting Technician 1 assists in maintaining provider records, setting up vendors/providers, and ensuring foster care, childcare, adoption, and out-of-state providers are paid in a timely and accurate manner. To be a resource for the field workers and care providers to ensure that payment regulations and departmental policy are properly utilized in making payments. This position further focuses on auditing provider accounts to determine when overpayments have occurred, providing written notification to providers regarding the overpayments, and then working with them to determine most appropriate method of collection. Requirements

  • One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Valid ID.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
  • Fill out the Education section of the application completely.
  • Indicate the number of units completed if a degree has not been obtained.
  • Provide copies of transcripts to verify educational credentials being used to meet minimum qualifications.
  • Document work experience in the application, including employer name, job title, dates of employment, and whether full- or part-time.
  • Certify that you have a legal right to accept employment in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
  • Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
