About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Health and Rehabilitative Services, is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 1 located in Anchorage, Alaska. This Position is an important part of the Accounting/Finance Team. It is mainly responsible for reviewing, reconciling and certifying card transactions. You will act as a back-up for various financial documents ensuring transactions are processed in compliance with the Alaska statutes, Alaska Administrative Code, Alaska Administrative Manual, the Accounting Procedures Manual, department policies and procedures, and union bargaining unit agreements.

Requirements

  • One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals.
  • Ability to express information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information.
  • Ability to make clear and convincing oral and written presentations.
  • Ability to listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to encourage and facilitate cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity.
